Verbose on a Snowy Day

It is a snowy day here at Chez Toadlily!  All of our holiday shopping (and wrapping) is done, just a few recipes to make ahead for dinner tomorrow.  It is so cozy to sit here in our nice warm house and watch the flakes fall.  A perfect winter day!

The latest stitching news is that not much stitching has been going on due to the above mentioned shopping and wrapping.  Remember the biscornu I was putting together for the TNT pincushion exchange?  I was using 2 colors of beads.  Sadly the darker beads looked great with the peach colorway but not so good with the green side.   So it was time to rip, rip, rip.  I decided to just use the pearly beads and only every-other stitch.  I was starting the third "side" of the biscornu when I noticed that for some reason the points were not centered. Um, hello.  This is Biscornu 101.  The corners of the design should match up with the midpoint on each side of the reverse design.  I ripped again and ran out of time to finish it.  What a bummer.  No new pictures of this debacle, just see the previous picture and imagine it without beads...and in total darkness.  (It is already back in the cedar chest.)

In my last post I included a picture of the ornament I sent to Susan for the St. Louis Stitchers ornament exchange.  I would love to show you a picture of the ornament I received from Judy but there seems to be a bug with photo uploading at the moment.  I promise to upload it as soon as Blogger allows.

I keep hearing about the Crazy January Challenge 2011 and I keep thinking it is a good idea.  After all, I can just reach into the Diane bag, pull out 15 projects (or 30 or 45) and get those puppies started.  If I don't start them it is certain I'll never get them finished.  Flawless logic.  Flawless!  Actually Diane has reached capacity and overflowed into a (laundry size) basket.  I seem to kit up projects at a much faster rate than I get them stitched.  I think my real challenge would be having the time to stitch, moreless start a new project, on 15 consecutive days.  I may change the rules and start 15 projects in January, basically one every other day.  That sounds more do-able.  Maybe I'll surround myself with the contents of Diane (and the basket) this weekend and see what trips my trigger.

I'm making a list of things I'd like to blog about.  In fact I may draft a bunch of blog posts to get myself started.  I have several years worth of finishes that I'd love to show not to mention the projects I'm working on now.  If I don't make some notes, I'll forget what I want to say.  Heaven forbid!  The verbosity must continue.  Hopefully with pictures.

Bummer about your biscornu issues. Surely, 2011 will be a better year for biscornu finishing, no?

Wishing you a very merry Christmas! Can't wait to see what stitching projects you start in January or any other month next year.

Now I'm off to finish wrapping presents. Yes, it's really late on Christmas Eve, and I still have miles to go before I sleep. . . . And yet, somehow I still squeezed in a few minutes to read some blog posts before I got started. :-)
