Miss Smarty Pants!

I finished a Waxing Moon design called Miss Smarty-Pants. How funny is that?? It isn't my usual sort of thing but it makes me laugh so I had to stitch it. It is stitched over one on 25 count light blue linen using the overdyed floss it called for.

What a hoot! Here it is with a nickel in the picture for a bit of perspective.

It was nearly a disaster. I was ironing out the wrinkles and absentmindedly spritzed a bit too much water on the towel I was pressing it with. Eek! All of those pinks ran like crazy. I dashed to the sink and rinsed and rinsed and rinsed some more. Then I let it soak in a bowl of water all day, rinsing again each time I thought of it. I'm happy to report that the excess dye washed away. I'm usually very careful about this sort of thing, but I was either woolgathering at the time or had a serious senior moment! Oh well, happy ending and all that jazz. I think I'll finish it as a door hanger or something like that. I believe I have a piece of pink calico in my fabric stash that will go perfectly.

I started a project, too. Joy stitched it and I'm going to copy her! It is Bent Creek's Spring Soapbox stitched on banding. This is another design that makes me laugh. Last night I finished the dreaded giant chicken at the top of the design, so I am posting a picture for Joy, as promised. That is one big white chicken...

I am finding that the banding is not fun to stitch on and the overdyed threads keep tangling on the back. Ack! Oh yeah, sorry for the bright flash spot in the picture. I hate when that happens... Here is picture of Joy's, all finished and ready for bellpull hardware. Yes, I'm jealous!

I'm rewarding myself with a slow, lazy day today after several really busy days in a row. I tried to catch up on my blog reading and made a small dent in the list of blogs I like to visit. I noticed several stitching bloggers have switched to the beta blogger but I'm not quite ready yet. I read through the information about switching, and the sticking point is "you can never go back" which sounds a little too ominous to me at this point. I know I'll switch eventually, but I'm definitely not up to it today.

I have completely lost my mind when it comes to the SBQ. I used to post and answer them regularly, but haven't in a long, long time. Time to get back to that. Tomorrow I'll answer the question for this week and see if I can come up with a logical system for responding to the older questions.

My internet connection is acting up, so maybe I better click "publish" and come back tomorrow!
