Progress

Welcome to 2006! The holidays are finally over, so maybe now I can get some serious stitching done. Maybe...

Honestly I didn't accomplish very much over the holidays. I finished a Needle Nutz project called Tea Time Stitching. It is a cute project. The colors are brighter than what I usually gravitate towards. Unfortunately the script for the verse is (in my opinion) unreadable. I'm not in love with the verse anyway, so I think I will frog out the verse and add more rows of specialty stitches. Here is a scan of the project.

Here is the design with a floss toss - just a couple of candidates for the job! For the record, the Silk 'N Colors is Fairy Quilt Cottage. CathyMK was using this for an M designs tree and I fell in love with the color. The other fiber I received in an exchange from Ana in France. Gorgeous stuff! Don't you think both fibers are just right for this design?

I also finished Part 16 of Terre de France. My goal in 2005 was to stay current with this project and not fall behind. I accomplished that goal! In less than a year the project will be done. When I show this project to other stitchers they always ask if I am getting bored with the black floss. No, the black isn't boring yet...but I am growing weary of the border!

Currently I am stitching on an exchange piece that will be mailed this Friday. I'll share pictures after it reaches its final destination. I am also working on a small Heart in Hand kit called Freedom Rings. I was going to link to a picture at the HIH site, but apparently the kit is sold out so they don't have a photo. All I have left to stitch is the border, so I'll just wait and post a picture when I finish.

I think I will start the Miss Mary Mack SAL next week, maybe Monday the 9th. Is that too soon? Is everyone ready to go? I'm not opposed to waiting another week or two if necessary.

That is it for today! Tomorrow or Friday I will write about my 2006 stitching plans.

I don't think it was me... but I DO like the fairy tale cottage thread - I love all thread gatherer silks. (I really should do an M designs tree - I have one charted with our surname.

I love the colors on your Tea Time. I also took some time off because of the holidays so i know what you mean.

Both projects look great! I love the Silk n Colors, pretty thread. I think the idea to switch out to more specialty stitches is great. :) Can't wait to see more.

I don't have the pattern yet, but I'll play catch up if others want to start sooner rather than later.

Next week sounds great to me!! Funny how I was sure I was ready to stitch it at the first of the year, yet life has been so busy. Now I thought that after the holidays we all would have more time for stitching! Where has the time gone??? :)

Hugs

The tea time sampler is so pretty, but I do agree with you about the script being hard to read; I brought it up as big as I could on my screen and still couldn't make out some of the words. I would be doing as you suggested, unpicking the letters and restitching in something more legible!
I love your all black work - it can be so striking. I was working on a small item last year all in black, and it was great because you don't have to keep stopping to change colours! But I got sick of it and haven't finished it. Another UFO...

I love this little sampler - and I especially love the little skeins of floss ... just too gorgeous! Have to admit, I had trouble reading the script too ... I've just had similar problems with my latest Lorri Birmingham needleroll - I've decided to frog it all and do it in pale blues instead of the pale beige/ecru they had ... it's nice to be able to see the words! Yours will look gorgeous with new specialty stitch borders instead of words too - and the colour threads you've chosen look great for the job! :)

Chelle, I agree that the writing is a little difficult to read. I like the threads you picked to replace the verse; it's going to look great!
